And Without Him

John 1:3 “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”

The three most hopeless words that a person can live is found in the verse above, “…and without him…” Imagine, life without God and what it would be. The answer to that thought is, “without him was not any thing.” In other words, all things in life consist because of God, and trying to live without God and doing things on your own will only cause you to have to live a life of turmoil. There are several things that happen when a person tries to live life without God.

First, without Him there is no life. Verse 4 says, “In him was life…” People are always searching for the source of enjoyment in life, but God is life’s enjoyment. People try extreme activities to find enjoyment, but they come away empty after the extreme rush is gone. People try drugs to find life, but they only find that drugs takes enjoyment away from life. What people find who try to find enjoyment in the world’s pleasures is that the world’s pleasures always force you to take the next step to find pleasure, and the next step still leaves them empty because life is not found in the world. You will never find enjoyment in life without God.

Second, without Him there are no blessings. The verse above says, “… and without him was not any thing made that was made.” Every blessing that you receive comes from above. Sadly, many begin to focus on the blessings and leave the God who gave them their blessings only to find the blessings of themselves will always leave you empty. You must always remember that there would be no blessings without God.

Third, without Him there is no light to lighten your way. Jesus is the light, and it is He who shineth His light in darkness. Without God you would not know where to go in life. People continually make bad decisions because they are trying to make decisions on their own. My friend, the only one who can shine a light on which decision you need to make in life is God. God knows your tomorrow, and He knows the next step you need to take in life. If you stopped trying to make decisions without Him, you would find that your decisions guided by God would cause life to turn out right.

Fourth, without Him there is no hope. God is the hope of every person. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:19, “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” The reason this world lives without hope is because they have pushed the Blessed Hope out of their lives. You cannot find hope in life without God. He is the one who gives us hope that we can make it through our problems in life. He is the one who gives us hope that there is a better place to go once life is over. He is the one who gives us hope that we don't have to go to Hell. You see, Jesus is our hope, and without Him there can be no hope.

My friend, you have a choice to make every day. Your choice is to live your life with or without Him. If you try living your days without God, you will find your days will be filled with turmoil and heartache. I am not talking about not being saved; I am talking about going about your day and never one time asking God to go with you and guide you with all that you do. My challenge to you is NEVER to start your day without God. Start your day with God in His Word. Start your day with God by praying. Once you start your day with God, then go through the day yielding to His guidance as His guidance will always help your day to turn out right.
