Blessed by Faith

Galatians 3:9
“So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.”

Faith is the essential element of the Christian walk. You will never please God without faith. It is by faith that a person is saved, and the verse above shows that you are blessed by faith. In other words, without faith you will never enjoy the Christian walk. The Christian walk will never be appealing to the worldly believer because they are sight-driven and the Christian walk is faith-driven. The Book of Galatians deals with the life of faith and shows five things that it takes to be blessed by faith. Let me share these five elements with you.

First, you must be justified by faith. Galatians 2:16 says, “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ…” The Christian walk starts by faith. You cannot be saved without placing your trust in Jesus Christ. Maybe the reason so many have a hard time living by faith is because they have never been justified by faith. It will be hard to desire to live the life of faith if you have never trusted Christ by faith.

Second, you must live by faith. Galatians 2:20 says, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God” You cannot live by faith unless you crucify the flesh. You will find the life of faith will be unappealing as long as you continue to feed the flesh. The life of faith can only be lived in the crucified life.

Third, you must be filled by faith. Galatians 3:14 says, “…that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” The filling of the Spirit will only happen when you step out by faith to do the works of Christ. God never fills the believer who sits; rather, He fills the believer who goes. Faith motivates the believer to serve because they believe that God will honor His Word and fill you as you serve Him. If you ever want to be filled with the Spirit, you are going to have to step out by faith and start serving the LORD. Without faith, you will never realize the filling of the Spirit.

Fourth, you hope by faith. Galatians 5:5 says, “For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.” This may be my greatest motivator in the Christian life. One reason I keep serving the LORD is that I believer by faith that God will reward me at the Judgment Seat. The one thing that keeps the faithful believer serving when they see no fruit is that they have a hope that Jesus will return. You will never live the life of faith if you lose hope of Christ’s return. It is the hope of His return that keeps you serving the LORD through the difficulties of life.

Fifth, you must love by faith. Galatians 5:6 says, “…faith which worketh by love.” You will never make an impact on another’s life without having faith that God’s Word and power is transforming in the life of the believer. You will find it easier to love people in their weaknesses when you realize God is doing a work in their life.

My friend, the reason you are blessed by faith is because you perform these five areas by faith. The blessing of the Christian walk is only realized by faith. Let me encourage you to forsake the sight-driven life and start enjoying the blessings of serving God in the faith-driven life.
