Entertainment: Satan’s Brainwashing Technique

Jonathan Painter

Death, it truly does happen every day. What is death? Death can mean a number of different things depending in which context it is used. Death can often mean just simply the end of a temporary process, or it could mean the finish of a human beings mortal life on this Earth. Death can also refer to eternal damnation as it does in Revelation 20:14, “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” We cannot ignore the fact that death exists. However, I fear that in our modern age that the reality of death has been cheapened, and the afterlife robbed of its true meaning.

One must understand that life is only lived once, we do not keep coming back to try again, and again until we accomplish our goal. You may laugh and say, “Oh, only Hindu fanatics believe in that stuff.” No, I am afraid not. It is becoming more and more prominent in our video game driven society. We are so used to sitting in front of a screen controlling our heroic character on the PlayStation or the Xbox, and when we die, we simply get to start all over again. This is part of Satan’s ploy to distract us of the impact of death, and cheapen the thought of death in our minds. Don’t forget that you mortally die once. You don’t get to restart your life. Why are teenage suicides so high? They are high because the teenager crumbles under the pressure and feel that taking their own life is like hitting the restart button on the controller. You only live once, and you only mortally die once.

Why has death been so cheapened in our society? Why has Satan set out to cheapen death in our minds? I will tell you exactly why. Satan wants to make us so numb to death that when someone tells us of a Saviour Who died for us, the general thought becomes, “So what? People die all the time.” We become so immune to death that we no longer appreciate the death of the Lord. We have become so familiar with death that it has lessened the impact of the death of Jesus Christ in our minds.

What about life after death? Satan has attacked this as well. We know that after one dies, their soul either goes to Heaven or to Hell; however, our modern entertainment publishers have added a new aspect. It is called, the “living dead” the “zombie apocalypse” or “vampires.” All of these are fictional, but many of the youth in this day and age believe it to be true. I am not making reference to a few eccentric ghost chasers, I am talking about our society as a whole is beginning to accept these fictitious situations as facts of the future, or in some cases, the present. Again Satan wants to attack the fact that there is a Heaven and Hell. He doesn’t want people to think about where they will spend eternity.

You may be asking, “What is the point of this article?” The point is that we need to be very cautious with the entertainment of this world. Satan is using it as a brainwashing tool, and we cannot be subjected to it. “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2.
