Evidence of God’s Power

Revelation 6:1
“And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.”

The best evidence of God’s veracity are the works of God. People can say that there is no God, but all you have to do is look at His works and you will see that God is God, and that He is an omnipotent God. In this chapter, we are commanded to “come and see” the evidence of God and what He does. Let me share with you six pieces of evidence of God’s power.

First, come and see God reign. Verse 2 says, “And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.” God is in control because He is the God who reigns. Not only will God rule and reign in the future, but He reigns now, and will forever be the God who is in control. Your life may seem in disarray, but as long as you are following the LORD, you can be assured that He is in control of your life and where He is taking you. You never have to fear about whether God is in control because He has reigned, He continues to reign, and He will reign forevermore.

Second, come and see God keep His promise. Verse 2 talks about God have a “bow.” That bow is the rainbow. The bow forever belongs to God and is His evidence that He keeps His promises. My friend, whatever God has promised to do, He will keep. You never need to fear if God will keep His Word, because everything that He has said He would do He will do. You can always count on God keeping His promise.

Third, come and see God conquer. God is a conquering God. Let me remind you that the believer should never quit before the job is done. God conquers everything He faces, and so the believer should follow His example and be a conqueror of every task that is given them to do. Likewise, the believer should never let hardships conquer them; rather, they should be the conqueror of hardships because the Conqueror lives inside of them.

Fourth, come and see God’s power. In verse 3, only one person had the power to open the seal, and that person was God. Not only is God a conquering God, but He is an all-powerful God who has the power to do what man cannot do. You may feel overwhelmed by the difficulty of a problem, but God has the power and wisdom to help you overcome whatever it is that you face. Never let the problems of life conquer you. You have the ability to go to God and get His power to conquer all of your problems.

Fifth, come and see God’s justice. In verse 5, we see that God “had a pair of balances in his hand.” One thing you can always count on with God is that He is fair and just. What God does with one He does for all. Because God is a just God, so the believer should be just and fair in all they do. Too many believers feel they can do whatever they want, but they won’t do that if they follow the character of God. If the character of the believer mirrors God’s character, they will be just with every person and situation they face.

Sixth, come and see God answer prayer. In verses 7 and on, you see God answering the prayers of the saints. My friend, God always answers prayer. He may not answer your prayer in your timing, but He always answers prayer. God’s timing for answered prayer is always on time; don’t despair.
