Faith Killers
Deuteronomy 31:6
“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”
It is interesting how many times God told Joshua to be “strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid.” God knew that once Joshua became the leader, that the enemies of faith would try to stop him from accomplishing the journey of faith they embarked upon when they left the land of Egypt.
Faith killers are always vision killers. The reason Satan is so adamant about trying to hinder your faith is because he wants to stop you from pursuing the vision you have for the LORD. Several faith killers presented themselves in Joshua’s early ministry that you must be aware of and not listen to. Let me show you the faith killers you must avoid.
The first faith killer is indecisiveness. The reason God told Joshua to be strong is because He wanted Joshua to be decisive about taking the journey of faith. All it takes for faith to be harmed is hesitancy on the behalf of the believer. You must be decisive about stepping out by faith. In other words, you can’t wait to step out by faith because the faith killers will spring up during the time you wait to step out. The best thing you can do when God tells you to step out by faith is to be decisive and immediately obey.
The second faith killer is acting in weakness. God told Joshua to be of “good courage.” The believer should never act as if they don’t have the strength to do what it takes to perform spiritual tasks. Let me remind you that you have the power of the Holy Ghost to help you to perform faith’s tasks. Don’t act in weakness. Don’t hold back from doing the LORD’s work, but completely jump in with everything you have and you will see the LORD give you the strength to perform faith’s objective.
The third faith killer is fear. Throughout the Scriptures, God tells His children to “fear not.” God told the disciples to “fear not,” and He told Joshua the same. You will find the fear of failing and being alone will always kill your faith if you listen to this faith killer. God promises that He “will not fail thee, neither forsake thee.” Fear has kept many a believer from experiencing the miracles of faith. You are robbing yourself of experiencing God doing the miraculous through your life when you listen to fear. The believer must never be fear-led, but they must be Spirit-led which will result in them being faith driven.
The fourth faith killer is no vision. Joshua needed to keep the vision that God had already given them the Promised Land. Embarking upon the vision of faith is nothing more than claiming and working towards that which God has already given you. The vision God gives the believer is not something God hopes can happen, but the vision He gives is something He has already done; He is just waiting for you to trust Him to lead you there.
The fifth faith killer is doubt. Doubt will always kill your faith. You can always expect doubt to show up when faith presents its vision. You must silence the cry of doubt and trust the call of faith if you want God to do great things through you. You will miss the blessings of the Christian walk if you listen to doubt instead of faith.
Do you find the faith killers in your life? Let the charge to Joshua be the promise you claim to quench all the faith killers.
