John 1:42 “And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.”
Andrew was one of John the Baptist’s disciples. When John saw Jesus coming, he told his disciples, “Behold the Lamb of God!” When Andrew heard John proclaim that Jesus was the Messiah, he immediately followed Jesus. Andrew spent one day with Jesus and afterward went to his brother Peter and brought him to Jesus.
Imagine what the New Testament would be like had Andrew NOT brought Peter to Jesus. God used Peter mightily to lead the early church after Jesus ascended to Heaven. Had Andrew not brought Peter to Jesus, there would be no story to encourage our faith of Peter walking on the water. Had Andrew not brought Peter to Jesus, there would be no great sermon preached on the day of Pentecost that would have resulted in three thousand souls being saved. Had Andrew not brought Peter to Jesus, the early church would not have brought the Gospel to the Gentiles because Peter was the first disciple to bring the Gospel to a Gentile.
The need of the hour is for believers to bring people to Jesus. The answer for every person is for them to be brought to Jesus. People will not come to Jesus unless somebody brings them to Him. The word “brought” means to carry or transport.
I don't know of a better word that illustrates soul winning more than the word brought. You must realize that people need someone to bring them to Jesus. The bus ministry is critical because it brings people to Jesus who would never be brought to Him without someone bringing them. There are people who need to be transported to church so they can hear the Gospel message. There are people who need to be carried to church, and one of the ways to carry people to church in a big way is through the bus ministry. Certainly, you can carry people to church in a car, but you can carry more people to church in a bus. The bus ministry is nothing more than following Andrew’s example of bringing a “Peter” to Jesus.
Moreover, people will not get saved unless someone leads them to Jesus. The word “brought” means to lead, show, help, assist, or show someone the way. God uses people to give the Gospel to others. Certainly, believers are not the ones who save souls, but God uses believers to show someone the way to get saved. The lost will never know how to get saved unless someone shows them. Soul winning is critical because the soul winner simply shows others what they did to get saved.
Now, let me ask you, who have you brought to Jesus lately? You never know who you are talking to and what they will do when you bring people to Jesus. It was Edward Kimball who led D.L. Moody to Christ, and it was under Moody’s ministry that Wilbur Chapman got saved, who led Billy Sunday to Christ, whom God used to lead over one million souls to Christ. You will never know whether you are bringing an Edward Kimball or a Billy Sunday to Christ until you start bringing people to Christ. Many people will never meet Jesus unless you bring them to Him. Start bringing everyone you know to Jesus; it just may be God may use you to bring a Peter or Billy Sunday whom He uses to reach thousands of souls for Christ.
