Help Power
2 Chronicles 25:8
“But if thou wilt go, do it, be strong for the battle: God shall make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down.”
Amaziah had only been king for a short time when he faced a great battle that tested his fortitude to do right. To strengthen his army, Amaziah hired the armies of Israel to come and fight with him. He felt that having this army with him would allow him to be able to face any enemy that came his way. However, the man of God came to Amaziah and told him not to go to war with the armies of Israel because “God hath power to help, and to cast down.” God was telling Amaziah that He had the help power to take care of him even when what he faced didn’t seem possible. Several lessons are taught in this phrase that will remind and help you in the day when you need help.
First, God doesn’t need your help to be a help to you. Too many times, believers think they need to help God out in order to get His help. My friend, let me remind you that it is not about what you can do to help God out, but it is about God’s ability to show His strength in times when it seems like you are about ready to sink. I often remind people that God will let you go on your own strength until you exhaust all of your resources and finally realize that you just need God. You might find that if you will stop trying to be God yourself, and stop trying to help Him out and just let God be God, that He would help you more quickly.
Second, God doesn’t need the help of others to be a help to you. I believe that we often are looking for God’s help from others when we should be looking for God’s help from God. At times, God does use others to help His people, but most of the time He shows Himself strong without using human intervention or presence. God’s strength is revealed the most when people are not involved when He works. Instead of looking to others for God’s help, look up and realize that your help only comes from God.
Third, God has the power to help even when it seems impossible for any help to be able to help. Just because your situation seems impossible doesn’t mean that God cannot help you. God has the help power to help you, especially in those times when it seems impossible. God’s help power is not limited to your ability to see how God can help, but His help power is dependent upon His omnipotence. Your situation is not impossible. In fact, when it seems impossible, and when you can’t see where help will come from is when God can help you and show you His strength.
My friend, in those times when you need help, be strong and continue moving forward for God. You may not know how you can take the next few steps when you need His help, but you don’t have to worry about how many steps you can take; you just need to take the next step. Be strong and take the next step. You will find that God will help you every step of the way if you will be strong and just take another step.
Furthermore, trust God when you need help power. What is it you are facing today that you need help power with? Do you need help power with your marriage, finances, health, or some other situation that seems impossible? My friend, trust God; He has the help power to get you through your situation. You don’t need others for God to help; you just need God. As long as you keep going forward and doing what God wants you to do, He will help you every step of the way.
