How to Repair Any Relationship

post-title

Hosea 3:1 “Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine.”

One of the great love stories in the Scriptures is the story of Hosea and his wife, Gomer. No, it is not the perfect love story, and it is not the love story that any young girl would love to read about. However, it is one of the great love stories because it reveals what true love can do.

God told Hosea to marry a woman of whoredoms. In other words, Gomer was a lady of the street, but Hosea loved her. They had two children together when she no longer wanted to live with Hosea, so she returned to her old lifestyle. God told Hosea to take her back. How in the world could Hosea get over the hurt of his wife leaving him for such a wicked lifestyle? The answer is in God’s advice, “Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD…” God told Hosea that he could love his wife despite what she had done IF he loved his wife according to the LORD’s love. God was saying to Hosea, “Hosea, I know that in your love you could not love her for what she had done, but in My love, you can love her.” The thing that makes this love story so great is that no matter what Gomer did, Hosea never stopped loving his wife.

My friend, this is the answer to every relationship problem. This is the answer to your marital issues. This is the answer to your issues with your parents. This is the answer to your issues with another believer. The answer is to love others according to how the LORD has loved you.

You see, there is no person you cannot love if you loved according to God’s love. The problem with most people is that we don't love according to God’s love, which is why we have issues with others. Many love others depending on their treatment towards them, but that is a superficial love, unlike God’s love. God did not love us at our best, but He loved us at our worst. Therefore, if you loved according to God’s love, you would love anyone at their worst. This is why there is no person you cannot love if you loved according to God’s love.

Moreover, there is no person you cannot forgive if you loved according to God’s love. There is no sin that God has not forgiven. Therefore, if you loved according to God’s love, you could forgive any sin that another has done. Your problem is not that you can’t forgive another for what they have done to you, but you won’t forgive them. If you are saved, you have the love of God inside of you, and if you tapped into that love, you could forgive ANYTHING that a person has done towards you.

Furthermore, there is no hurt so deep that you cannot get over if you loved according to God’s love. Don't you think that God has been hurt by what we have done to Him? Yes, He has, but He still loves us. The problem with many believers is that they want to make their hurt their identity instead of getting over the hurt by allowing God’s love to be their identity. You could get over any hurt that someone has inflicted on you if you loved according to God’s love.

My friend, the answer to every relationship problem you have is not to love according to your love, but to love according to God’s love. You will be able to love, forgive, and get over any hurt when you let the love of God reign in your heart.
