“What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.”
Two times, Job made the statement that he was not inferior to these men who had come to criticize him. It is interesting that Job’s comment came when he was going through the toughest battle of his life. Had these men criticized him when everything was going well, I seriously doubt that their criticisms would have caused him to fight an inferiority complex; however, the terrible situations that had befallen him caused him to struggle in this area.
Many people struggle with an inferiority complex. One of the reasons people do things they normally would not do is because they want to be accepted, which is a result of an inferiority complex. If people never fought an inferiority complex, they would never be worried about what others thought about them. There are several things you need to consider if you are one of those fighting an inferiority complex.
First, what others think about you does not make you less of a person. Many people do things they normally would not do when they feel less of a person than another. I have found that many Christians are so worried about what others think about them that they will compromise what they believe all for the sake of being accepted. My friend, just because others may think badly of you doesn’t make you any less of a person.
Second, what others say about you does not make you less of a person. Just because others criticize you doesn’t mean you are what they say. I have had to learn a long time ago not to listen to the criticisms of those who don’t like me or else it will consume me. Nobody likes being criticized, but you cannot allow criticism to cause you to feel less about yourself. Face it; one of the reasons people criticize is so that they can cover where they feel inferior. They feel that if they can tear you down that nobody else will see their weaknesses.
Third, your failings in life don’t make you less of a person. Everyone fails, but that doesn’t make you less of a person. You have got to stop allowing your failures in life to dictate what you feel about yourself. Failure is simply a lesson on the way to being successful. Failure simply teaches you how not to do something so that you can go on to be successful. Why would you allow your failures to dictate what you feel about yourself when they are only lessons along the way to becoming productive? Don’t let your perceived failures dictate how you feel about yourself.
Fourth, your situation in life doesn’t make you less of a person. No matter where your present condition is, you are no less of a person. Who you are is not dictated by where you live or what you are able to do. Many older people struggle with an inferiority complex because they can’t physically do what they used to do. My friend, that doesn’t make you less of a person.
Christian stop worrying about what others think and say about you. An inferiority complex is simply a result of self-focus. The best way to get rid of an inferiority complex is to get a God-focus. If you stay focused on God and what He thinks, you will find what others think and say about you won’t matter to you.
