Making an Impact in Lives

post-title

1 Corinthians 13:2 “And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.”

The only thing that is really going to matter at the end of life is how many you have impacted for Christ with your life. Too many are looking to make an impact in this world, but making an impact in the world leaves you feeling empty. There are many people who have made an impact in the world for bad, but it didn't change the void in their life. Sports stars have made an impact in lives, but the impact is temporal and becomes nothing once another sports figure who is better comes along. Many have made an impact in politics, technology, and in music, but the impact these made eventually fades away.

However, there is a way you can make an impact that lasts through eternity, and that way is by having charity. The verse above says that you can have the gift of prophecy, but that gift alone does not make an impact. You can have the ability to discern things, but the ability to discern by itself does not make an impact on anyone’s life. You might have the ability to speak several foreign languages, have several college degrees, and have a great amount of faith, but these make no impact by themselves.

Charity is the only way you can make an impact in another’s life for eternity. Charity is invested love. In other words, until you invest your life in others, you will make no impact on them no matter what talent or gift you have. Too many are trying to impress others with their gift, knowledge, or abilities, but without investing your life in others, you will find that you have wasted your time.

My friend, God has given you whatever gift, talent, or ability you have so that you can invest it in others, and by investing in others, these will make an impact on someone’s life. The investment in others with your life makes the greatest impact on others. People don't care about your knowledge, talent, or gifts until you use these to help them, and by doing so, you make an eternal impact on their lives.

Moreover, you invest in others through ministry. One of the greatest reasons you should be involved in ministry is so that you can invest yourself in another’s life. Ministry allows you a way to invest your love in others. When a bus captain gives their time and finances in others, they are making an eternal impact on lives. When a Sunday school teacher, nursery worker, or even a Pastor invests their love in others by serving them, they will find this investment has great returns.

Furthermore, it won’t bother you how much time or finances you have to give to make an impact when you are investing your life in others. When your love is invested in others, you will never care about how much you must give in time or finances to see a change in another’s life. However, when you are invested in yourself, it will bother you how much time and finances that others are trying to get you to give.

The greatest impact you can make in life is to invest your love in the life of others through ministry and soul winning. Do you want to make an investment that lasts for an eternity? The only way to do this is to invest your love in others through ministry, and your love invested will keep your gifts, talents, and knowledge from being nothing.
