“And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,”
Have you ever had one of those days that it just seemed to be a bad day, or it was a day that nothing seemed to go right? The verse above says that Jesus had “one of those days.” I don’t know what all happened to Jesus on this day, but I do know that He didn’t let that day affect His spirit and His effort to help people and reach the lost. Sometimes we look at Christ and think that because He was the Son of God that He didn’t have one of those days like we do. However, you must remember that according to Hebrews 4:15 that He “…was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” Though He had one of those days, He determined what that day would become instead of letting that day to determine what would become of Him. Let me take this thought and give you several things that you should do when you are having one of those days.
First, don’t let one of those days affect your spirit adversely. Just because you are having one of those days doesn’t mean that you should be a grump the whole day. You may be having a bad day, but allowing the bad day to influence your spirit to be grumpy won’t make your day better. You are going to have to determine that you will have a good day even though you are having one of those days.
Second, on one of those days, do what you have always done. Jesus didn’t stop what He always did, but He continued to do what He had always done. Staying in your daily routines is one of the best ways to keep one of those days from destroying your outlook on the day and ruining your ability to make positive accomplishments on that day.
Third, tell others about Jesus on one of those days. Jesus continued to tell others about the Gospel though He was having one of those days. I have found that one of the best ways to make one of those days a better day is to go lead someone to Christ. Leading people to Christ forces you to take your eyes off yourself and your problems so that you can point a lost person to Christ.
Fourth, invest in others on one of those days. Just because you are having one of those days doesn’t mean that you have to let it rob you of the enjoyment that comes from helping others. Jesus continued to help others even though He was having one of those days, and you will find that helping others can turn one of those days into a victorious day.
Fifth, remember that one of those days is only a day; it will get better. At worst, one of those days is just a day. Sometimes the only way to get through one of those days is just to put one foot in front of the other and continue doing what you are supposed to do until tomorrow comes. My friend, no matter how bad one of those days may get, always remember that it is just a day and that every day eventually ends.
Sixth, remember that what you do on one of those days determines if you make those days an everyday occurrence. Your tomorrow is determined by what you do today. If you allow one of those days to cause you to do nothing or to do something wrong, your tomorrow will be another one of those days. Doing good and right, and investing in others on one of those days will make your tomorrow better. Whatever you do, don’t let one of those days ruin your tomorrows.
