Be Strong and Do Exploits

Allen Domelle

Daniel 11:32

And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

God desires His people to do exploits. Nowhere in the Scriptures do you find God desiring His children to settle for mediocrity, but you will find He challenges them to attempt great things for Him. One reason God commands the child of God to live by faith is because He wants to show His power through them as they do exploits.

An exploit is a heroic deed or act. David did an exploit when he defeated Goliath. It was an exploit when Joshua and Israel conquered Jericho by walking around the great wall for seven days, and then it crumbled at their shout. It was an exploit for Elijah to pray fire down from Heaven. It was an exploit for the three Hebrew children to go through the fire untouched. It was an exploit for the early church to turn the world upside down for Christ in a very volatile time toward Christianity. The life and ministry of Christ is filled with exploits. If we are to do exploits, how does one do it?

First, they need to get to know their God. How does one get to know God? There are several ways we get to know God. We get to know God in the yoke of service. Jesus said in Matthew 11:29, Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;… You will never get to know God well until you get in His yoke and serve with Him by reaching the lost. You learn about people when you work with them. You don't learn about people by wanting to have a relationship with them, but the relationship is established in the yoke. You learn of God by getting in His yoke and serving with Him.

Moreover, you get to know God in trials. Paul learned that God’s grace was sufficient when he acquired a thorn in the flesh. Too many want to learn about God, but they run from Him when trials come. You always learn more about God in the difficult times of life than you ever will in times of ease. You may get a shallow understanding of God in times of ease, but it is when you go through the most difficult times of life that God reveals Himself and His power to you.

Furthermore, you get to know God by walking with Him in His Word and in prayer. You cannot do an exploit if you don't know the God who empowers you to do the exploits. The reason those in the Scriptures had the courage to attempt exploits is because they learned of God and His faithfulness before they faced the impossible that turned into an exploit. The more you study God’s Word and pray, the more knowledge you will gain about God and be challenged to put Him to the test in your life.

Second, you must be strong to do exploits. Exploits are never done by the weak, but by those who are strong and courageous enough to attempt them. God says to “be” strong. The word be is in the present tense. Don't worry if you have the strength to do the exploit tomorrow, but be courageous to step out and attempt it now.

Third, you must do to do exploits. Here is the key. Exploits are not accomplished by sitting but by doing. Get busy doing something for God and you will find God will use you to do exploits. God has never done one great miracle through someone sitting, but He has always done the miraculous through those doing. You must do what it takes for exploits to happen and God will perform those mighty works through you.
