Daily Perspectives

Isaiah 22:5

For it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity by the Lord GOD of hosts in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, and of crying to the mountains.

How you face your day does determine much of what your day will be like. Many go into the day with a wrong perspective and wonder why they had such a bad day. I cannot control what my day holds, but I can control my perspective to rejoice in this day that the LORD made. Many go through life with a negative perspective of each day when they could easily find many good things that happen each day.

Most of our days are filled with good things; it is only those with a negative perspective that find life difficult to deal with. If you start your day with a negative perspective, you can expect your day to be a bad day. However, if you start your day with a positive perspective, you can see each day as an opportunity for God to turn the bad into good. Let me share some perspectives on how you can start your day.

First, you can start your day as a day of trouble. When you start your day looking at it as a day of trouble, you can be assured that your troubles will make your day bad. It is the perspective of how you start your day that matters. To start your day looking at troubles and thinking they will control your day is to assure you that your troubles are in control. You can see the cloud as always following you overhead; if you do, you can be assured that the cloud will always be there.

Second, you can start your day as a day the LORD hath made. Psalm 118:24 says, This is the day which the LORD hath made…. If the LORD made this day, He has already been in your day. This means that no matter what you face, the LORD already has it under control. The LORD made your day, so even the difficulties you face are part of what He made. You can see difficulties and complain, or you can see them as a challenge to find what God is doing in your day.

Third, you can start your day as a day to rejoice. Psalm 118:24 says, This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Rejoicing is a choice you must make, and it is done by choosing to start your day as a day that you will find something to rejoice about. Now, if you start your day as a day of trouble, you will never find anything to rejoice about. However, if you start your day as a day that the LORD hath made, you will easily find something for which you can rejoice. It comes down to your perspective of how you choose to face each day.

Fourth, you can start your day as a day to serve the LORD. Joshua said in Joshua 24:15, And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. He was saying that each day he lived, he would make it a day to serve the LORD. If you spend your day choosing to serve the LORD, each day will be a day that you can rejoice in and make a great impact on the lives of others.

How will you start your day? Remember, your perspective of how you start your day determines much of what the day brings. No, you cannot determine what happens that day, but you can determine how you face what happens. Have the right perspective to start your day, and each day can be a good day.
