Acts 24:22
And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the uttermost of your matter.
When Felix was asked to make a decision of faith, he made the same destructive decisions many have made when they faced decisions of faith. It does not matter if the faith decision has to do with salvation or with a decision concerning God’s guidance in your life; you must make sure that you don't allow the three decisions Felix made to be a part of your consideration with faith decisions. Let me share the three dangerous decisions you can make toward faith decisions.
Deferring is the first dangerous decision you can make toward faith decisions. Felix wanted to put off getting saved when he needed to accept Christ immediately. The longer you put off faith decisions, the harder they will become. Always remember that more people go to Hell the longer you put off faith decisions because faith decisions always impact the lost. Many people have put off a call of God because they wanted to wait. Many people have put off stepping out by faith on something they know God wants them to do because they are scared. I have learned that when God asks you to do something by faith, immediate action is the best action to take. Any hesitancy in making a faith decision always makes faith’s decision harder to make the longer you defer it.
Reasoning is the second dangerous decision you can make toward faith decisions. Felix tried to reason about faith, but there is no reasoning with faith because faith requires you to trust God. Faith never asks you to do something that makes sense, but it always asks you to do something that takes total trust in God. If you try to reason with faith decisions, you will always find that faith is not safe at the moment. Many have reasoned with a financial faith decision only not to give what God wants them to give, and they have missed out on God’s greatest financial blessings. Many have reasoned with a faith decision concerning God’s will only to make the decision not to follow God’s will because it is too risky. If there was no risk in faith decisions, it would not be faith. Faith is taking a great risk on God, but you will never be disappointed if you obey God to follow the risk He asks you to take by faith.
Convenience is the third dangerous decision you can make toward faith. Felix looked for a convenient season to make the faith decision to trust Christ, but he found out when he was burning in Hell that there is never a convenient season to make a faith decision. If faith was convenient, everyone would do it. The fact that everyone is not making a faith decision will tell you that it is never convenient. Every faith decision I have had to make in my life was not a convenient time, but I am eternally grateful that I obeyed God, because He has greatly blessed me because I chose to follow the call of faith’s decisions immediately. A faith decision is never a convenient season for man, but a faith decision is always in season with God; therefore, obey God immediately and stop waiting for the convenient time to make the faith decision.
The key to avoiding these dangerous decisions concerning faith is to obey God immediately when He tells you to step out by faith. Any hesitancy in making a faith decision that God commands you to do always makes that decision harder. Those who have followed faith will testify the best response to faith is to follow what it asks you to do immediately.
