Romans 4:20

He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

Faith is critical to successfully serving God, and to live by faith means you must stay strong in faith. It is critical for the believer to stay strong in faith because Satan will do everything to get the believer to waver in their faith, for he understands what God’s power can and will do through one’s faith. Living by faith is not easy, and living by faith does take total trust in God. The faith one has in God throughout their daily walk reveals their trust in God’s ability to do what He says He will do through their faith. Let me share several keys to staying strong in faith.

First, don’t look at your own abilities. Abraham stayed strong in faith because he considered not his own body. Abraham understood he was past the age of having children, but he also understood that God’s capabilities has no limitations. When you look beyond your abilities to see that God’s capabilities have no limitations is when your faith will stay strong.

Second, don’t let time passed steal your faith. Abraham believed God would give him a child since he got married, but it had likely been over fifty years, and he still had no children. However, he did not allow time to steal his faith. Never let time passed steal your faith. Just because your faith has not become a reality does not mean that God won’t honor your faith.

Third, you must stay in the faith if you are to stay strong in faith. In other words, you must daily read God’s Word to stay strong in faith. God’s Word will strengthen your faith if you read it daily. However, every day you don't read God’s Word is a day your faith is weakened. You will only stay strong in faith by feeding your faith through God’s Word. Your faith needs a daily sustenance of God’s Word to stay strong.

Fourth, stay focused on the possibility and not the impossibility. Abraham did not focus on the impossibility, but on the possibility through God’s power. Staying strong in faith is a focus issue. If you focus on your abilities and the impossibility of what you are attempting, you will waver in your faith. However, your faith will stay strong if you focus on the possibility through God’s power.

Fifth, you must believe the promises of God to keep your faith strong. God promised Abraham that He would make of him a great nation, and Abraham believed God’s promise. God’s promises have never failed. When your faith begins to waver, you must look back in your life and see that God always came through with His promises. Titus 1:2 reminds us that God cannot lie. Because God cannot lie, that means that He will do whatever He has promised He would do. You will never regret trusting the promises of God because God always honors His word.

Sixth, you must believe in the power of God to stay strong in faith. Abraham believed God had the power to perform His promise. My friend, the fact that God is God means that He has not lost any power to perform the miraculous. God was capable in the past of making the impossible possible, and He is still capable today of turning the impossible into a reality. For your faith to stay strong, you must believe in God’s power. Believe that God’s power will work through any person, including you, if you will never give up on faith.
