No Man Could Number

Revelation 7:9

After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

When you look at the crowd that will be in Heaven, God says it was a great multitude. I am always amazed how many say we are just after numbers, but so is God because every number helps to make up a great multitude of souls. God doesn't just want a small crowd in Heaven, and He won’t have a small crowd in Heaven, but He wants multitudes in Heaven. God is so interested in numbers that He said three thousand people were saved on the day of Pentecost. He is so interested in numbers that He told us that He wants His house to be filled. God even said the multitude of Heaven was so great that no man could number it. I guess God must be interested in numbers.

It is interesting who makes up this great multitude in Heaven. When you look at the great multitude that will be in Heaven, you find that many churches today would not represent what God says will be in Heaven. Notice that the number consists of nations, kindreds, people, and tongues. In other words, God is showing that if you are going to build a great multitude in your church, this is what you must go after. Let’s look at what kind of multitude God wants in Heaven that every church should attempt to represent.

First, God wants people of all nations in Heaven. You will never fill your church if you only go after a certain crowd. Your desire should be that your church has people from all nations in attendance, which means you must go after every nation group in your city. You would be pleasantly surprised how God will build your church if you decided to have every nation represented in your church.

Second, God wants people of all kindred. Kindred is talking about families. In other words, don't just go after families representing a certain financial status, but go after all families. One mistake people make in trying to build a church is that they say, “You have to pay the bills.” My friend, God is very capable of paying the bills. Stop worrying about the financial status of the people you are going after; God is very capable of paying His bills in your church if you will go after every family in your city despite their financial status.

Third, God wants all people groups. When God talks about people, He is talking about different races. God doesn't want a white church, black church, yellow church, or brown church; He wants a church of all people. The color of the wrapping paper on the soul does not matter to God; He just wants all people to be saved and in our churches. If you are concerned with the color of the skin, you will never fill your church.

Fourth, God wants people of all tongues. In other words, there are people in your city who won’t speak your language, but you must find a way to reach them. It would be good if every church reached those who do not speak the native tongue of the nation because every person who speaks a different language has a soul.

My friend, God wants a great multitude, but the great multitudes starts with one. Stop worrying about what type of people you reach with the Gospel, just reach all people and you will be surprised how God will fill your church with a great multitude.
