Psalm 37:3

Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Psalm 37 contrasts the person who finds satisfaction in Christ versus the person who is frustrated by the prosperity of the wicked. What the one who is frustrated by the prosperity of the wicked does not see is that the wicked’s prosperity is temporary. We often erroneously define whether something is worthy by the temporary life on earth instead of the whole of eternity that the saved will enjoy in Heaven. My friend, we will receive rewards for doing right. In this chapter, God shows several things the believer needs to do to be satisfied with their life in Christ.

First, you must trust in the LORD. Trust means you don't have to understand to believe in God’s ability to care for your needs. To trust in the LORD means you don't have to understand why; you just need to rely on the fact that the LORD is in control. We don't need to know why; we just need to know that God is in control and will care for our needs.

Second, you must delight yourself in the LORD to find satisfaction in Christ. You will never delight in the LORD if you don't trust Him. My question is, when has the LORD ever proven Himself untrustworthy? Because God is a trustworthy God, find your pleasures in the LORD and not in the world. Look to the LORD to find the way to live, and you will find great satisfaction in Christ.

Third, commit your way unto the LORD, and you will find satisfaction in Christ. Again, committing your way unto the LORD only comes if you delight in Him, which only happens if you trust in the LORD. You must have great trust in the LORD if you will commit every way to Him. In other words, give your ways of life to the LORD to handle so that you can serve Him. To commit your way to the LORD is to say you trust His judgment over yours, which is the greatest decision you will ever make.

Fourth, rest in the LORD, and you will find satisfaction in Christ. To rest in the LORD is to be patient with His timing. To rest in the LORD is to say you don't have to have the results of doing right immediately; rather, you are okay with waiting for His timing to make everything right. You will never regret waiting on the LORD’s timing, but you will always regret running ahead in self-will to make things work out. God knows the right timing for your life, and you will find satisfaction in Christ by waiting on Him.

Fifth, wait on the LORD, and you will find satisfaction in Christ. To wait on the LORD is to serve Him. The waiter waits on the customer, and God wants us to wait or serve Him while we trust His timing to work out all things. To wait on the LORD is to determine you will not change course, but you will continue to serve Him no matter what you face in life. You will never regret staying the course of the faith while you serve God in times when you don't understand what life is throwing at you.

The key to these actions is to stay focused on the LORD. These five actions are not difficult to do when your focus is on Him. The only time you will struggle with these things is when you take your eyes off Him to look at yourself or the problems that life throws at you. True satisfaction in Christ is only found by staying focused on the LORD despite not knowing or understanding what life throws at you.
