Matthew 4:24
And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
The ministry of Jesus was all about reaching the lost with the Gospel. It did not matter what their condition or situation; Jesus always had the power to reach people and change their life situations. People who were tormented in life were healed with the power of Christ. People who had mental issues were healed with the Gospel. People that Satan possessed and caused to do many evil things were made whole by Christ’s power. People who had health issues found healing when Christ touched their lives. It mattered not what the weakness was; Jesus had the power to heal them and save them.
However, there is a key to the power of Christ touching the calamities of His day; the key was that these people needed to get to Jesus. The verse above would not be in the Scriptures had the disciples not brought unto him all…people. Every person who had a problem would have stayed with their problem had the disciples chosen to wait for Jesus to get to these people. The disciples understood the situation's criticalness, which is why they brought these people to Jesus.
We live in crucial times when there are many people who need something to change in their lives. The depravity and issues of our society will never be changed by prescription drugs, new laws that address these issues, or programs that deal with addictions and mental health issues. The answer to our society is getting people to Jesus. People have had addictions and mental health issues for hundreds of years, and the only answer for these people is the Gospel of Christ. Societies have always tried to mend addictions and their mental health crisis without Christ and have miserably failed because these issues need a heart change, and the only thing that changes the heart is salvation.
The power of bringing people to Jesus through soul winning is never more critical than today with our societal problems. One reason churches are not seeing many people saved is because they are looking for people without issues to give the Gospel to instead of giving the Gospel to all people, especially those with character issues. When believers get serious about bringing people to Christ through soul winning is when we will begin to see changes in the lives of people. It is the power of the Gospel that can heal anyone who is brought to Christ.
Christian, the times are critical, and the need is great for you to be a soul winner. You will be surprised what can happen to those broken by sin if you will only get to them with the Gospel. If you were to visit my church, you would find many people who used to have severe issues, but the Gospel has changed their lives. No, they are not always completely over their issues, but God is doing a work in their lives to grow them into His image.
If you are looking to have a museum church, you will never see what the power of the Gospel can do in the lives that sin has broken. There is someone who you will come across today that if you will bring them to Christ, He will be able to help them by giving them a heart change through salvation.
