There Is No Hard Case With the Gospel

Allen Domelle

Matthew 19:25

When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?

Jesus spoke to His disciples about how hard it was for rich people to get saved. He taught them this truth when a rich young man asked Him what he needed to do to have eternal life. This young man thought very highly of himself and thought he had done no wrong. When Jesus could not show this young man that he was a sinner, Jesus told him to sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. Jesus was not teaching that by selling all that this man could have eternal life, but Jesus was showing that this young man thought his money could get him anything that he wanted, but it could not get him eternal life.

The young man walked away sorrowful, because he was unwilling to give up trusting in himself. Jesus then said to the disciples that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. The disciples responded by asking, Who then can be saved? Jesus told them this may seem impossible, but with God, all things are possible. God was teaching the disciples that there is no hard case when it comes to God’s power. God is able to save everyone no matter how difficult it may seem for someone to get saved. In this dialogue are three great principles that can help you to become a better soul winner.

First, never qualify people as hard or easy to be saved. Half of the battle to being a successful soul winner is in your head. When you look at people and dictate in your mind that they are too hardened to be saved is when you shy away from giving them the Gospel. Let me remind you that everyone has hard times, and God sent you to that person at that time because He knows what is going on in their life. If you stop qualifying who is ready to be saved and who is not ready, you will stop defeating yourself in giving out the Gospel.

Second, the power is in the Gospel. Romans 1:16 teaches, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. You must realize the Gospel is capable of saving any person; therefore, you must stop trying to help the Gospel to get through to people. The possibility of everyone getting saved is in the power of the Gospel and not in the eloquence of your abilities to deliver the Gospel. The Gospel is what does the work in the heart of the sinner; you are simply delivering the Gospel to the lost so it can do its work in the heart of the lost. The day you realize that the Gospel is powerful enough to do its own work is when you will realize that all you need to do is deliver it to the lost.

Third, your responsibility is to deliver the Gospel and give them a chance to respond to accept it. All I do when I go soul winning is I give the Gospel to the lost I give them an invitation to be saved. I put no pressure on them because the Gospel has already put the pressure on them to be saved. My responsibility is not to make them get saved, but to give them an opportunity to be saved. When I have given them the opportunity, I have done my duty. Don't worry about how good of a soul winner you are; simply give out the Gospel to the best of your ability and give an invitation for them to be saved, and you will be surprised how many people will get saved because the Gospel’s power did its work in the heart of the lost.
