Exodus 36:2
And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whose heart the LORD had put wisdom, even every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it:
I look at the verse above and see a completely different people than I see in previous chapters. In Exodus 32:6, the children of Israel were dancing around a golden calf naked, and living their lives to rise up and play. Just four chapters later, we see a people who are right with God and are busy serving Him. In fact, you see a people whose hearts was stirred to come unto the work to do it.
What made the difference in such a short notice? The difference is they got busy working. A believer who is busy working for the LORD will be a believer who is often too busy to fall into sin. Every time Israel got comfortable and was not busy working was when they found time to gripe, murmur, pick the leadership apart, or to go after other gods. However, when they got busy serving the LORD, you will see a people who pleased the LORD and were too busy to do the things that caused frustration to the LORD and Moses.
A great mistake many people make in trying to clean up their lives or in trying to clean up the lives of someone who has fallen is that they try to put off instead of putting on. A person who gets busy serving the LORD will find themselves too busy to do the things that have hindered their lives for years. You can sit in groups trying to figure out how to overcome your problems and sins, and you will sit there living a defeated life, or you can get busy serving the LORD with the problems you have, and you will find serving the LORD will help you to overcome those besetting sins that beset your life. Let me share a couple thoughts about this important truth to living the victorious Christian life.
First, you never get better by sitting. People don't grow in the LORD or learn about Him by sitting. We have this thought that people need discipleship classes to learn how to serve the LORD and what they should believe, but that is a great contrast to what the Scriptures teach. You will never heal from the hurts of the Christian life by sitting. You will never overcome besetting sins by sitting. You will never grow in the LORD by sitting and waiting to become mature. Every person who has sat has found themselves playing around the golden calves of the world to their detriment.
Second, you only get better by getting busy and working. How does one grow in the LORD or overcome besetting sins? How does one overcome hurts and heartaches? The answer is by getting busy serving the LORD. Matthew 11:29 says, Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;.… Notice that you learn about God in the yoke of service. How did Ezekiel overcome the heartache of losing his wife? Ezekiel 24:18 shows us, So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded. Notice that he overcame his heartache by getting up and doing something.
The great secret to living a victorious Christian life is to get busy serving the LORD. You will find that in working for the LORD you will grow spiritually, learn more about God, find the hurts of life will be healed, and you will overcome the besetting sins that have beset your life for so long. Get busy serving the LORD, and the LORD will change your heart for right through service.
