You Have Enough

2 Kings 4:2

And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.

The story of the widow lady is an excellent blueprint of what is needed for God to do something mighty through one’s life. This lady had much debt to care for after the death of her husband. In those days, the creditor would take the children and sell them as slaves to cover the debt. This lady came to Elisha and told him her situation, and his question is what reveals what is needed for God to do the miraculous in anyone’s life. He asked, what hast thou in the house? This lady had everything she needed for God to do something mighty, but she had to follow the blueprint if God was to show His power through her life situation.

I imagine that you want God to do something mighty in your life. Any believer with a good heart would want God to use them mightily in His work. However, all believers have in their house the assets it takes for God to work mightily through their lives, but they don't use them and miss out on God’s miraculous power working through them. Three things this lady had in her house that is needed for God to do something mighty.

First, it takes a faith vision that God can do something mighty. Everyone has enough faith for God to do the miraculous through them because it takes faith to get saved. If you are saved, you have enough faith for God to do the miraculous through you. Two people are in this story; Elisha who saw by faith what God could do, and the widow woman who was looking by sight and could not see the solution. Those whom God uses see by faith the solution to overcome the impossible, but those who live by sight see the impossible with no solution. You will never see God use you mightily until you start looking through faith at what God can do with your situation. It first takes a faith vision before God can do anything through any person.

Second, it takes trust to act for God to do the miraculous. Faith always produces action. If you are looking at the impossible by faith, you will trust God to step out on what you see by faith, believing that He will provide the solution to overcome the impossible. If you don't trust God enough to step out by faith, you will miss out on the miraculous that God has for your life. Many have missed seeing God do something mighty in their lives because they didn't trust God and His Word. We cannot trust God to do the miraculous if we don't trust that He can preserve His inspired and preserved Word in the King James Bible. Trust to act on faith comes from a trust in God’s Word that He has the power to do something through us like He has the power to preserve every word for us in the King James Bible.

Third, it takes the Holy Spirit to empower us for God to do the miraculous. This lady only had a pot of oil, but that was enough to do the miraculous. You have enough to see the miraculous if you have faith to see God’s power to overcome the impossible, trust to act on God’s promises that He will help you through the impossible, and the power from God’s Holy Spirit to use you as you attempt the impossible. Oh, how we need believers today to act with faith, trust, and God’s power to do the miraculous. My friend, God can still do the miraculous. We all have these ingredients; it just depends on whether you will use them. If you do use them, you will see God do something mighty through your life.
