Results Matter
Zechariah 8:23
“Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.”
Results do matter. At the end of the day, the only way that people know that something is happening are by the results. Great and magnificent buildings don’t matter if you have no results. Great programs mean nothing if there are no results. The results are what tells others that you are different from everyone else. In the sports world, a coach can have all the bluster in the world, but at the end of the day, it is his season record that speaks for itself. The results matter because the results tell others if something is real.
The verse above says, “We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.” The results are what will one day cause people to follow the Jews. The result was that God would be with them. How will they know that God is with them? They will know by the results of God’s blessings on the Jews. People will only know that God is with the Jews by the results of His blessings on their lives and nation.
People always want to be a part of something that is doing something. People want to be a part of a church that has God’s blessings on it. Many churches talk about their greatness, but at the end of the day the results of people being saved and baptized, lives being changed, and a church growing is what causes people to want to come from afar to join a place where God is working. If you want your church to grow, you would be wise to get God on your side and to see His blessings.
However, you will never get God’s blessings without work. The results that God gives never comes from lazy believers who sit and wait for God to do something; rather, God’s blessings come on those who work hard to reach the lost for Christ and to have an influence on changing the lives of those that sin has ruined. The results do make a difference as to whether someone wants to come and be a part of a ministry.
My friend, do you want your church to grow? Do you want people to come from afar to join your church to help your church in reaching the harvest? The key is to get God with you. There are three things it is going to take to get God with you and your ministry.
First, it is going to take clean lives to get God’s blessings. God won’t bless a church filled with sin. God won’t bless a church that is worldly. Certainly, there are worldly churches that seem to swell, but the swelling is the dead rot of sin. You will never see God’s blessings when sin is a part of your life.
Second, it will take hard work. God doesn’t bless lazy people or lazy churches. God can’t give results of souls saved and baptized to lazy people. Nothing can substitute the hard work of God’s people in reaching the lost. If you want God’s blessings, you are going to have to work hard.
Third, it will take prayer. God’s presence and power is a direct result of hard work and prayer. You can work hard and not pray, and you won’t see God’s blessings. You can pray and never work and never realize the blessings of God. When you pray and work is when God chooses to be with a people and a church to do great works through them.
