The Dragon is Being a Dragon

post-title

Revelation 12:13 “And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.”

I have had pets for most of my life. Most of the time, I have had dogs as a pet. What doesn't surprise me is that my dog barks and licks. I know this sounds obvious, but dogs will be dogs, and a cat is going to be a cat. I expect a dog to bite when it is in danger, and I expect a cat to swipe at you when it feels it is in danger. I don't expect a dog to purr when it is happy, and I don't expect a cat to pant with its tongue out when it is happy. The reason I don't expect these things is because a dog is a dog, and a cat is a cat.

I say these things to remind you that a dragon is going to be a dragon, and a dragon will do dragon things. The verse above says that when he saw that he was cast unto the earth that “he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.” Why should this surprise anyone that the dragon would persecute the woman? The word “dragon” means “a fabulous kind of serpent.” Satan is the dragon that God is talking about in the verse above. He shows us this in Revelation 12:9, “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan…”

Why should it surprise anyone that Satan would try to persecute the woman? The woman that God is talking about is the church. Satan is not going to sit idly by while the church is doing the work of the LORD and destroying the works of Satan. Satan is being Satan just like a dragon is being a dragon. There are a couple of things I would like to remind you of about Satan being Satan.

First, Satan hates the church of God. Satan hates the church of God because it does the works of God. He could care less about the world’s churches that promote the world because they are not hurting his agenda. However, the church that is doing the works of the LORD will be attacked by Satan because Satan is doing Satan’s work.

Second, you must beware of Satan’s tactics. 2 Corinthians 2:11 says, “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” As a believer, you must know that Satan is going to do what he always does, and that is he is going to try and destroy the church by whatever means he can do it. You must understand that Satan is not going to play fair. There are no rules with Satan because his job is to destroy. Satan loves to use accusation and sin to destroy people. It should not shock you that Satan is being Satan when he hurts God’s people. He knows his time is short; therefore, he will attempt to destroy the work of the LORD.

Third, when Satan does Satan work and destroys or hurts, believers need to do believers’ works and keep keeping people out of Hell. The answer to winning in this battle is to keep doing what brought the attacks against you. You never win against Satan by quitting what brought his attacks, but you win by continually doing what brought those attacks. You don't overcome evil by quitting, but you overcome evil by doing good.

My friend, when Satan does Satan tactics, believers need to do believers’ works. I know it hurts when believers are attacked, and some may fall, but the best answer to Satan getting an advantage is to fight back by doing the works that God tells the believer to do, and that is to continue to reach the lost for Christ.
