“And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.”
The greatest need for any believer is to have the power of God on their life. Verse 1 says, “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me…” You will never be who God wants you to be or do what He wants you to do without being filled with the Holy Ghost. Too many believers are doing the work of God without the anointing of God, and then they wonder why they are drying up on the inside. My friend, you cannot do a holy work in a fleshly power. It takes the power of the Holy Spirit to do the work of a holy God. Anything less than the power of the Holy Spirit doing the work through the believer will end up short of its objective. In this chapter, we find three mindsets the believer who is filled with the Holy Ghost.
First, they will remember Who sent them. Verse 1 says, “…he hath sent me…” Keeping a right perspective of yourself can only be done by remembering that you are sent by God. It is not you that makes anything happen, but it is God through you that makes anything happen in the ministry. When people ask you who it is that sent you, all you have to say is that the LORD hath sent you. When you start doubting your abilities, remember that the LORD hath sent you. When you start wondering how you are going to make it tomorrow, remember that the LORD hath sent you. When you face obstacles that seem like they may overcome you, you must remember that the LORD hath sent you. The LORD will never send you to do something without going with you to help you do what He has sent you to do.
Second, the anointed will be mindful of their purpose. The purpose of the anointed can be found in verses 1-3. Your purpose is to help the brokenhearted, free those who are bound by sin, reach the lost for Christ, comfort those who are mourning, and to lift up those whose spirit is down. In other words, you are going to need God’s power to keep a right spirit in life so that you can be an encouragement to others around you. You cannot have an optimistic spirit in hard times without being filled with the Holy Ghost. If God is going to use you to be an encourager to others, you are going to have to be sure that the Spirit of God controls your spirit.
Third, the anointed will stay focused on their objective. The verse above shows the objective of the anointed is to build, raise up, and repair. Many things will try to pull your attention away from your objective, and they might be worthy causes, but you must never allow anything to pull you away from the objective that the LORD sent you to do. Always remember that the LORD gives you His anointing to do the objective He has sent you to do. One of the hardest things you will do is to stay focused on your purpose of being sent. There are many voices that try to call you away from what you are supposed to do, but you must plug your ears to those calls and only listen to the call of God. Your objective is to build the lives of people. Your objective is to raise up those who have been cast down because of life’s hardships. Your objective is to repair those lives that have been destroyed by sin. It takes the power of the Holy Ghost to make these objectives reality.
Do you have the right mindset in your Christian walk? The only way you can keep these mindsets is by allowing the Spirit of the LORD God to empower you and control you to do these great works.
