The Throne of Grace
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
One of the greatest things about God is that He always provides a way for the believer to make it through anything they face. The world is always looking for help in their troubles, but they have no help. On the other hand, God tells the believer that they can come to the throne of grace in their time of need so they can get help. When you look at Hebrews 4:14-16, you discover several things are found at the throne of grace that helps you in life and in your service for God.
First, you find Jesus at the throne of grace. In verse 14, we see the Jesus is the “great high priest” who is there to help us as we come to the throne of grace. If the only thing you find at the throne of grace is the presence of Jesus, you have found the answer to all of your needs. Jesus is your answer to all of your problems. It is Jesus Who intercedes for you, but you will only find that intercession when you come to the throne of grace.
Second, you find understanding at the throne of grace. It says in verse 15 that Jesus was “touched with the feeling of our infirmities.” Nobody else may understand what you are going through, but Jesus understands how you feel because He has been touched by the infirmity that afflicts you.
Third, you find boldness at the throne of grace. Trials have a way of taking the confidence of the believer away, but the throne of grace is the place where you will gain that confidence back. You need the throne of grace because it is at this throne where you gain back the confidence you need to continue in spite of your hardships.
Fourth, you find mercy at the throne of grace. There will be times when your trials bring you to the brink of breaking, and it is only at the throne of grace where you can cry for God’s mercy to end the pressure of the trial. There is nothing wrong with telling God you can’t take the pressure anymore, but you can only do that when you fall at His feet at the throne of grace.
Fifth, you find grace at the throne of grace. The grace you need to face your troubles will only be found at the throne of grace. You may not know how you can face today, but if you will spend time at the throne of grace, you will discover the grace you need to make it today.
Sixth, you find help at the throne of grace. The help you need to face your troubles will only be found when you go to the throne of grace in prayer. God’s help will never be found in complaining, murmuring or whining to others about your hardships, but His help is found when you go to His throne to ask for His mercy and grace; it is when you ask for mercy and grace that you will discover the help you need to face your trials.
Seventh, you find the grace and wisdom to serve at the throne of grace. The whole purpose of the throne of grace is to find a way to take your hardship to serve God. The best advice I can give you is that you should ask God to give you the grace to use your hardship to serve Him instead of asking Him to remove it. You can face life and its hardships only if you use the hardships to serve God and help others; this can only be done by going to the throne of grace to get God’s mercy and grace to serve.
