Until That Day

Isaiah 26:1 “In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.”

Several times in this book Isaiah says, “In that day…” What day was he talking about? He was talking about the day when Israel would be restored, the temple rebuilt, and the walls restored. This message to Israel was a message of hope that they would not have to be in captivity forever.

However, there is also coming a day for every believer that gives us hope. That day that I am talking about is the coming of the LORD for His children, the day that we call the rapture. Titus 2:13 reminds us of this hope when it says, “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;” My friend, Jesus is coming again! Just like Isaiah said, “In that day…,” so I want to remind you that Jesus is coming again. However, until that day comes, there are many things we must do as believers.

First, continue to sing until that day comes. Don't let life cause you to lose your song of praise, but let the hope of Jesus’ return help you to keep the song in your heart. I understand that life can be cruel, but when you look to that day, you can realize that you can make it no matter how difficult life may become.

Second, until that day comes, be faithful. Be faithful to do right. Be faithful to every church service. Be faithful to walk with God. Be faithful to the old paths. Anybody can quit because they get tired of waiting for that day, but those who make the greatest impact on the lives of others will be faithful until that day. Yes, you can give up and quit, but there needs to be people who determine to be faithful because faithfulness to do what you are supposed to do is what shows that your belief is real.

Third, until that day comes, trust the LORD. Verse 3 says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” When difficulties come, trust the LORD. When uncertainties in life happen, trust the LORD. When it seems that everything is about to destruct, trust the LORD. When political powers seem to be doing everything to destroy the Christian walk, trust the LORD. The worst thing you can do in uncertain and troublesome times is to stop trusting the LORD. You will only find the perfect peace in your heart that everything will be fine as long as you place your trust in the LORD.

Fourth, until that day comes, keep standing for truth. Don't change because others are changing. The Scriptures warn us that in the last days many will change, but you must keep standing for truth despite the compromise of others around you. Yes, changing to be accepted by the compromising crowd may be easy, but it never leads to the blessings of God.

Fifth, until that day comes, keep telling others about Jesus. Soul winning is not always the easy thing to do, but you must keep telling others about the precious Gospel that can save them from Hell. Despite how many reject the offer of salvation, keep telling others about Jesus.

My friend, I don't know when that day will come, but it will come. So, until that day, keep doing what you are supposed to do because the LORD will fulfill His promise that He will come again.
