When the LORD Confirms
1 Chronicles 14:2
“And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.”
One of the most dangerous times in anyone’s life is when they know that God has confirmed them in their position. In the verse above, David encountered this when it says, “…the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel.” It is at this moment when many good people become prideful and start believing that they can do anything they want. They may have the ability to do what they want, but one must always remember that they still have to deal with the LORD. When the LORD confirms you and what you are doing, you are going to have to take extra precautions so that you don’t fall for Satan’s temptation of pride. Let me share with you several things you need to do when you know the LORD has confirmed you and what you are doing.
First, realize that everyone is watching. The verse above says about David after he was confirmed, “…for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.” It may have been a desired moment for David for all of Israel to realize that God anointed him to be their king, but it became a moment when everything he did became scrutinized. Just because God has confirmed you and what you are doing doesn’t mean the people have confirmed you. Every person must realize that they are always judged by their last act. People will scrutinize everything you do, and that is why you must be very careful about every decision you make and every action you perform. The LORD’s confirmation of your calling always brings the world’s scrutinization of your actions.
Second, don’t change what brought the LORD’s confirmation. I believe that one of the mistakes David made was to take more wives unto himself. My friend, just because you can do doesn’t make it right to do. Just because you have the power to do something doesn’t mean you should do it. Just because the LORD has confirmed you doesn’t give you a license to base everything you do on what you want. You must remember that the LORD’s confirmation came because of a humble and obedient heart. Don’t let the LORD’s confirmation on your life and ministry be the thing that causes you to stray from what brought that confirmation. If you continue to do what brought the LORD’s confirmation, you will continue to keep His confirmation.
Third, expect battles. As soon as David was confirmed by the LORD, the Philistines came to kill him. The LORD’s confirmation doesn’t mean that you will not fight battles. My friend, when the LORD confirms you is when you will experience the greatest battles of your life. You can’t do right without the enemy’s weapons being pointed and fired at you. You are going to fight battles when God is using you, and you had better get ready for it and continue to do what brought His confirmation on your life.
Fourth, continually enquire of God. Let me encourage you not to leave the prayer closet. One of the greatest reasons God’s blessings stayed on David’s life was because he never stopped enquiring of the LORD for guidance in all he did. Staying in the prayer closet for everything you do will always keep the LORD’s favor and confirmation on your life. Never get so big in your mind that you think you can do one thing without God’s mind and help. The LORD’s confirmation and power on your life will never diminish if you continually ask the LORD in prayer what you should do for everything you face.
