“Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.”
The great sin of worshipping the golden calf had been committed. Moses, the man of God, demanded that the children of Israel decide who they were going to serve. He asked, “Who is on the LORD’s side?” Moses needed to find out who was going to go with him to the Promised Land. He was demanding an answer from these people so that they would declare to everyone whose side they were on.
The same question must be posed to every believer today, who is on the LORD’s side? Are you on the side of the world, or are you on the LORD’s side? Are you on the side of Neo-Baptists who are more concerned with being in favor with people than they are with being in favor with God, or are you on the LORD’s side? Are you on the side of the worldly music, or are you on the LORD’s side? Are you on the side of worldly, scantily dressed believers, or are you on the LORD’s side? Are you on the side of preachers who look to appease the world and parishioners, or are you on the LORD’s side? Are you on the side of changing to the newest bible, or are you on the LORD’s side? The question is asked, and you must answer because no answer is an answer! There are several actions you must take to choose the LORD’s side.
First, it is a choice. Whether or not we like it, there are sides in the Christian walk. To say that there are no sides is to accept the drumming beats of the world that we must all get along for the sake of the greater cause. My friend, God demands a choice for whose side you are on, and not to make a choice is a choice not to be on the LORD’s side.
Second, it is a declaration. You will never choose the LORD’s side if you don’t declare your position. To cross over the line to Moses’ side was a declaration by those people whose side they were on. You will never succeed in choosing the LORD’s side if you don’t declare your side to everyone what you believe by word and action. To leave people wondering what you believe for the sake of not offending someone is a declaration that you are not on the LORD’s side.
Third, it is a separation. When you choose the LORD’s side, you are separating from the wrong crowd. Too many snowflake believers want to be liked by everyone, but to choose the LORD’s side will cause you to be disliked by those who are not walking on the LORD’s side. You must live a separated life if you are going to choose the LORD’s side.
Fourth, it is a direction. When you choose the LORD’s side, you are choosing to go forward to the Promised Land by faith and not backwards to Egypt and the world. Your direction screams your choice. If you are going to choose the LORD’s side, you must have a forward direction that believes in soul winning, bus ministry, and embraces the past leaders who showed you the way to walk.
Fifth, it will be a battle. Moses told them that if they chose the LORD’s side, they were to put their sword by their side. You cannot choose the LORD’s side and think everyone will like you. Choosing the LORD’s side often places you in uncomfortable battles. Choosing the LORD’s side is a declaration of war against anyone who tries to water down or destroy the ways of the LORD. My question for you is this; whose side are you on? I hope you choose the LORD’s side.
