Who Is That God?
“Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?”
The question is the same; it has never changed throughout the centuries. People have wondered and questioned, who is that God? Just like Nebuchadnezzar asked the three Hebrew children, “Who is that God…?” people still ask today who He is. The answer to this question can be found in the Book of Daniel. Though the answer we receive from this book is just a drop in the bucket of who He is, it still gives an answer. Let’s let Daniel and the rulers of his day answer the question of who God is.
First, God is a revealer of secrets. Daniel said in Daniel 2:28, “But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets…” Just like God gave the answer to a dream that no man could discover, He can still reveal those things to you that seem to be in question. You may wonder what the answer to a problem you are facing is; the answer can be found in God because He is the revealer of secrets. You may not have the answer to your problems, but God does have that answer, and you can find it if you will go to Him in prayer and ask Him to reveal the secret to your problem.
Second God is the deliverer of His servants. Nebuchadnezzar said about God, “…who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him…” You may find yourself in a bad situation and wonder how you are going to get out of it; let me remind you that God can deliver. He has delivered His servants in the past, and He can deliver you today. You may think that your situation is about to swallow you up, but you can be assured that God can deliver if you will just ask Him.
Third, God is the changer of times. Daniel said about God, “And he changeth the times and the seasons…” If you need someone to have a change of heart, the answer is found in going to God and ask Him to do the changing. You can try to manipulate the situation to change what they can do, but just because you persuade them to do things differently doesn’t mean they had a heart change. God is the changer of times, and only He can change the heart. Stop trying to change people through your own strength and go to God and ask Him to change their heart.
Fourth, God is the giver of wisdom. Daniel continues in Daniel 2:21 by saying, “…he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:” Do you need wisdom today to figure out a solution to your problem? Let me remind you that God is the giver of wisdom. When all resources are exhausted, you still have one resource Who can give wisdom to fix your problem, and that resource is God. Always remember when you need answers that God is the answer to every problem.
Fifth, God is the resolute, living God. King Darius says in Daniel 6:26 says, “I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever…” The greatest comfort for the Christian is knowing that God never changes and that ever liveth. The one constant in life in who you can anchor your soul is in the resolute, living God. Don’t fret over tomorrow, because God will be there for you as He is today.
