“Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.”
Finally, Israel saw what their problem was after all of the judgments they faced. Notice that they said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD and against thee…” When the children of Israel finally saw that it was God who brought them out of Egypt and not Moses and Aaron, it was then that these people could go forward in conquering the land which God had given to them. You never again see the children of Israel complaining about Moses and Aaron in the manner that they had, and from this point forward the children of Israel began to march towards the land God had promised them.
The same is true for us; not until we place our eyes upon God and accept the hardships that come our way and not blame the leaders whom God has placed over us will we realize what God has promised for us, our Promised Land. Once we accept this, we will see God use us in a great way, but not until then. Let me share with you a few thoughts concerning this story.
First, you are your greatest hindrance to God’s blessings. Moses and Aaron were not the hindrances to these people going into the Promised Land, but their murmuring and complaining ways were the hindrance from them going forward. All of your problems in life can be traced back to one person; YOU. Until you stop blaming others for not having God’s blessings, you will continue to see the same wilderness of hardships and judgment that continue to hinder you from God’s blessings.
Second, at some point you need to stop repeating the same hurtful actions. It seems as if Israel couldn’t stop tripping over themselves. Over and over again, they complained about Moses and Aaron not giving them water or food when their problem was that they were their greatest hindrance. You would think they would have caught on that God could provide for them if they would stop their hurtful action of murmuring. You will never move forward to God’s blessings if you keep doing the same sinful actions repeatedly. Stop repeating the same hurtful actions that hinder you from God’s blessings and break the chain by facing your sin. It is not until you face your sin that you will see God’s blessings.
Third, until you accept the fact that God is the One who has brought you to where you are and stop blaming your preacher or parents for all your problems, it is not until you realize this that you will ever be able to go forward for God. My friend, God wants you to go forward, but as long as you blame others for your problems, you will continue to wander in your wilderness of self-pity. The reason you have never left your wilderness of self-pity and wandering is because you continue to blame others for your plight instead of facing the real problem which is you.
Let me ask you; are you going to continue to be your biggest hindrance from going forward to see your Promised Land that God has for you? You can choose to complain and stay in your wilderness, or you can break the chain by changing your actions from complaining to getting up and going forward towards your Promised Land.
